Fallout Who Vegas Wiki

This page covers recommend mods which are not directly related to Fallout Who Vegas and its addons, but which improve game stability or the overall game experience without necessarily straying outside of a vanilla experience.

Essential Mods[]

These mods are considered "essential" meaning that it is highly recommended to install them for all playthroughs and styles. These mods significantly improve game stability and are required for any stable playthrough of Fallout New Vegas, with or without Fallout Who Vegas added. These mods are also listed on the Installation Instructions page.

  • New Vegas 4GB Patch - This allows Fallout New Vegas to use up to 4GB of RAM, which drastically improves performance. Unlike most mods it's a separate patcher and must be manually pointed to your Fallout New Vegas executable rather than installed through any mod manager.
  • New Vegas Anti-Crash - As the name suggests, prevents a significant number of potential crashes.
  • New Vegas Tick Fix - Patches the game's tick system to prevent some very common stutters, amongst other patches. This mod replaces the outdated New Vegas Stutter Remover.
  • Yukichigai Unofficial Patch - A large "unofficial patch" type mod which fixes numerous bugs in Fallout New Vegas, both gamebreaking and minor.
  • JIP LN NVSE Patch - Recommended for almost all modding with NVSE-based mods. It also allows the player to search for item IDs of particular items.

Recommended Mods[]

These mods are not considered as essential as the ones above however remain strongly recommended as they solve many minor issues with the game, or sometimes with Fallout Who Vegas itself. While the issues these prevent aren't game-breaking, they are still slightly noticeable in-game.

  • The Mod Configuration Menu - Many mods use this to allow for in-game reconfiguration of various options and settings. Fallout Who Vegas does not, however mods you are using alongside it may do.
  • CASM with MCM - The base game's autosave system can, over time, cause increasingly poor performance and game freezes. Replacing it with the CASM save system can, when configured correctly, mitigate most of these performance issues.
  • ENB Ceiling Fix - Use of an ENB in the game can cause certain ceilings in-game to appear to have holes in them. This simple patch fixes that. Note that an ENB can still cause certain lighting issues in and around the TARDIS, so it is instead recommended to use ReShade.
  • ReShade - ReShade is a post-processing injector to adjust lighting and camera effects of many games. Like the 4GB patch it must be patched on your fnv.exe externally and cannot be installed using a mod manager. ReShade works similarly to an ENB however while an ENB can cause certain lighting in and around the TARDIS to act strangely, ReShade does not.
  • Mod Limit Fix - Removes an internal limit to the game which meant only around 100-150 mods could be loaded at a time. Note that with this mod there is still a limit to active plugins, but it is much higher than in vanilla. Also note that this mod can still cause an improvement in performance when the player has significantly fewer mods than the limit.
