Fallout Who Vegas Wiki

This article will cover many of the known bugs in Fallout Who Vegas and their solutions. This list is by no means exhaustive but will cover the most common bugs a player is likely to encounter. If you experience a bug which is not on this list, feel free to ask the community for help on the Official Who Vegas Discord Server.

The overwhelming majority of bugs and issues encountered by users of the mod are down to an outdated or incompatible install. Before approaching the wiki, please ensure that your bug isn't already covered by the Bug-Checking Checklist below:

Bug-Checking Checklist[]

  • Ensure that you have the latest beta of Xoanon's Unofficial Patches installed. Note this is installed for you if you use the GitHub complete edition of the mod.
  • Ensure that you have all mods listed as essential from the Recommended Mods page installed. These are required for Fallout New Vegas to run smoothly on modern machines.
  • Ensure that if you are using xNVSE, you are also using Bungles xNVSE patch.
  • If you have recently significantly changed your installation of Fallout Who Vegas and its mods, see if it is solved by starting a new game. This includes changing which mod manager you use, installing any large new mods, or significantly changing your load order.

If you have followed all these steps and your bug still persists, consult the Known Bugs section below or ask for help on the Discord server.

Common Bugs[]

  • Game Crashes when Entering the TARDIS: Ensure that you have the 4GB Patch installed properly, according to the instructions on the mod's Nexus page.
  • Player is Stuck/TARDIS Does Not Spawn outside Doc Mitchell's House:
This bug is due to a minor conflict between Xoanon's Unofficial Patches and JIP LN NVSE plugin. It can be resolved by reloading the game in any way. It can be prevented by using Bungles xNVSE patch.
  • Controls are Floating in the Rani Console Room:
This comes from a conflict between how Xoanon's Unofficial Patches and Spyduck's Console Room Additions both edit the Rani room. One solution which works for most players is to not load Spyduck's Console Room Additions until after you have made your first flight in the TARDIS.
  • The Detective - The Murderer Flees Before the Player Can Accuse Anyone:
Reload a save from before you arrive at Greystone Hall.
  • The Detective - The Quest Fails but Murders Keep Happening:
Reload a save from before you fail the quest.
  • Waves Not Spawning at Trenzalore:
Wait 24 hours and waves should start spawning again.
  • I Somehow Managed to Get Back into the TARDIS During The Christmas Special:
This is a known bug - it is possible to get back in by using the top right corner of the TARDIS door. It is recommended not to leave Yuleworld until after the quest so as to not cause further bugs and issues.
  • TARDIS Console Scanner Stops Working:
Attempt a repair cycle. Alternatively, select the scanner in the game console (accessible with `) and enter SetDestroyed 0
  • TARDIS Will Not Take Off/Is Stuck in a Space Loop:
First, try to exit the space loop by the usual method - ensure your Thermocoupling components are not destroyed and run the Controlled Temporal Implosion protocol. If that fails, open the console and enter set fwvqProtocols.protocol[8] to 1
  • A King of Infinite Space - Companion Refuses to Open a Door:
This happens when you are trying to have them unlock the wrong door.
  • When Flying in Drift Mode, the TARDIS Never Goes Anywhere (Infinite Flight Glitch):
The cause of this bug has not yet been fully identified. SImply use the Time Rotor Handbrake or Seige Mode protocol to end drift flight and try again.
  • After Unto, the Past Architecture is Using 30% Power with No Rooms Active:
Reload a save from before going to Gallifrey and put the TARDIS into Basic Mode.
  • NPC is Stuck in Trance:
Reload a save from before you put them in a trance.
  • Earth Defender - Told to Defend a Location but no Enemies Appear:
Leave the location and come back.
  • Water and Other Objects are Visible Through the Map:
This is not a bug with Fallout Who Vegas, but an issue from using an ENB. Disable all Anti Aliasing, Anisotropic Filtering, Transparency Multisampling, and Shadows in the base game settings, as these should instead by handled by the ENB. If using a mod manager with an integrated .ini editor (such as Mod Organizer 2) you may need to make this change using its ini editor for it to take effect. Alternatively, switch from ENB to ReShade.
  • Long Load Screens/Game Freezes on Saving:
This isn't specific to Who Vegas but just a consequence of how Fallout New Vegas makes its save files very bloated. It cannot be fixed, or even completely prevented, however some actions cause more bloat than others, so if your game suddenly gets this bug try reload from before whatever might have caused it and don't do that thing again. If you are careful you can get through a full game only minimally affected by this.
One way to help reduce the chances of this happening is to use a save overhaul mod like CASM with MCM and use it to entirely replace the slightly buggy vanilla save system by disabling all vanilla autosaves and configuring CASM to make its own saves in their place.
  • Game Crashes/Other Issues When Using an Addon Mod:
Note that some addons, particularly additional console rooms, were built for an earlier version of the mod and so are incompatible with the current version. Only the addons linked on the front page of this wiki and in the pinned messages on the Discord channel are guaranteed to be compatible.
  • In Advanced Mode, the TARDIS Never Drifts Off-Course with Axiometer Disabled:
    No known cause or fix.
